Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are we chartering with or without a Captain?

A. We are only offering charters with USCG certified captains with years of experience to offer the safest and best experience you will enjoy. If you so desire to be your own captain there are other boats rentals available throughout the islands.

Q: How do we pay for the charter?

A. We take credit cards and/or cash!

We will confirm the date and itinerary with you, at reservation and take a $200.00 deposit which will be charged to a major credit card to hold the reservation. You may pay the balance prior to disembarking. The fuel consumption is calculated by a digital meter. The fuel will be charged to the credit card according to the actual amount used. Fuel rates can change daily.

Q: What about tipping the Captain?

A. Gratuities are appreciated for experiencing a great day. The customary tip for Captains is 15-20% of the Charter price. However the amount of a tipping is always a personal choice. All tips belong only to the Captain!

Q: Are there any additional fees?

A. If we are going the any of the B.V.I.’s we must pass through customs to enter and come back into the US customs as we re-enter the USVI. Therefore ALL must have a “passport” and pay the customs fees. Our current fees are $45 per person in “cash”. We will handle the paper work prior to embarking.

Q: What if I need to cancel?

A. We acknowledge that events and plans change. Please notify us 48 hours in advance to change or cancel the charter in order to receive a full refund of the deposit. Deposits for cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance are non-refundable. Failure to contact us or show up on the day of your scheduled trip (a two hour window of your scheduled departure time) will constitute a full charge for the trip and be charged to the credit card on file.

Q: What do I need to bring on board?

A. Bring a towel, sunscreen, camera(s), under water cameras are great for snorkeling, sunglasses, a hat or visor, a swim suit cover up or shirt. You are welcome to bring your own drinks as we have plenty of insulated storage coolers.

Our stereo system is blue tooth compatible, so bring your favorite tunes to relax and enjoy!!!

We do ask that if you are using sunscreen spray that you put it on prior to entering the boat because the spray is both slippery and causes the cushions to yellow or stain.

Q: Do we go to St. Croix?

A. We do not charter to St. Croix due to the distance.

Q: How fast can the boat go?

A. The TREK can travel at WARP speed!!!

Q: When do the charters start and end and how long are the charters?

A. Our schedules are flexible depending on your schedule. Our day is approximately 8 hours, usually embarking around 8:30 am and debarking on or around 4:30 pm. Special times can be arranged with prior knowledge.

Q: Where do I get on and off the boats?

A. We are in the Compass Point Marina just outside of Red Hook on the East end of St. Thomas. We can with prior arrangements pick you up at St. John or one of the resorts with docks.

Q: Do we need to bring any snorkel gear and life jackets?

A. We have all the necessary snorkel gear needed. You are welcome to bring any specialized gear you may have or need, i.e. any masks with vision lens.
We have USCG certified life jackets for all including small and/or children’s life jackets.
